That’s a wrap on 2025! Reflecting on the past year, Jo and I have gone through a lot of growth and change.

January – March

At the beginning of the year, I didn’t have a goal in my life. The main excitement I had was to have a garden that upcoming season, causing me to begin the indoor seeds way too early. After losing about half of the plants to early seeding, I was glad when the snow melted and I could start working outdoors.

During this time, Jo was writing solo for Grace Between the Fields, not only capturing the joy of her cats and her skills behind a sewing machine but also sharing her faith journey and impacts on her life.

Our friendship was growing into homesteading sisters during this time. We would hang out quite often, comparing garden notes, but we did not know of each other’s homesteading dreams. She had a future vision for her life on a homestead but for me, it was just a fantasy at this time.

April-June

These three months flew by in a blur. It was a late spring, meaning a later garden. It was also a busy season at work and the late hours meant shorter time outdoors, enjoying the evenings. Jo started riding lessons again after a winter break for a few months. These three months were the last few months before some big changes happened in my life.

July-September

July was a big month of change. Two exciting things in July were an upgrade to my sewing machine and taking control of my health. My old sewing machine that I inherited from my mom when she was young gave its last stitches, so I purchased a new, modern machine. It’s been a learning curve, but I enjoy sewing more these days with a better-quality machine that I’ll have for the rest of my life. By taking control of my health, I feel better and stronger every day. I decided to reach out for help and have slowly been making changes to improve myself each day. It’s one of the best decisions of the year.

In August, when Jo and I were enjoying some tea and had plans to do some sewing, she brought up her vision of her homestead. Instantly, I felt the warmth and excitement as she explained. It all lined up with my dream that I always thought would be out of reach. This led to talking, planning, and lot of tea.

October-December

I wrote my first article for Grace Between the Fields in October – My First Success Tomato Harvest. I’ve enjoyed writing for Grace Between the Fields and look forward to what Jo and I can share about our city to homesteading journey in 2026. Jo and I also decided to increase the blog posts to a more consistent schedule.

November was busy dreaming of the future, but making sure we both felt comfortable with the plans and how we get from the city to our homestead. The details are not finalized, but we both agree that our faith will be our focal point. I joined Jo’s Bible study and learning more about my faith and using it in my daily life has brought comfort.

The last month of the year was full of Christmas joy for Jo and I. We had a Christmas celebration at church and celebrations with friends and family. In December, we also made the decision to showcase our journey from city to homestead in another form. In 2026, you can begin to follow us on YouTube! Details to come.

Commit your actions to the Lord,
